6 Pro Tips to Elevate Your Wedding Day Aesthetic

As a Colorado wedding photographer (oh, and, shameless plug: destination wedding photographer, too!), I’ve seen all different types of weddings. And because of this, I feel rather overconfident about advising you in this particular area. But alas, I’m going to share with you my favorite pro tips anyway that will undoubtedly elevate your wedding day vibe and aesthetic.

Your wedding day is one of the most significant events in your life, and you want everything to be perfect. From the decorations to the dress, every detail should reflect your personality and taste. One way to ensure that your wedding day is as memorable for you and your guests is by thinking about it as a fancy dinner party.

Elevating your wedding day aesthetic doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With the right planning and execution, you can create a beautiful and cohesive look that will leave a lasting impression on your guests. Here are some tips on how to elevate your wedding day aesthetic:

Choose a Cohesive Color Scheme

First and foremost, your color scheme sets the tone for your wedding day aesthetic. Choose a color palette that reflects your style and personality, and ensure that it’s consistent throughout all aspects of your wedding. This includes everything from the invitations and flowers to the bridesmaid dresses and table settings.

Send avant garde stationary

Likely your save the dates and invitations will be the first experience your guests interacts with. Working with a stationer like Sal Studios or Birdsong Bespoke to create custom paper-goods is a great way to make a first impression. And these avant garde invitations make for beautiful flat lays that add to the story of your wedding day, naturally elevating your wedding day aesthetic.

Gents, clear your pockets

The most cost effective tip and the one that drives me the most crazy– is clear your pockets. Because my perspective is always coming from a photography standpoint, this is what I notice most in post processing. Ditch the phones, wallets and keys to avoid bulk. Gents, I am personally giving you permission to bring a purse on your wedding day. hehe.

Update the chairs

This seemingly trivial design element actually packs quite the punch. Updating and customizing your chairs is one of my top recommendations to elevate your wedding aesthetic. And if you’ve always imagined your wedding being published, updating your chairs to elevate the aesthetic of your wedding is total a game changer.

Swap the glassware

With their unconventional shapes and innovative designs, avant-garde glassware pieces add a touch of artistic flair to any table setting. Swapping traditional glassware for avant-garde glassware definitely pushes the boundaries of design and is sure to spark conversation.

Add custom linens

Updating your linens will immediately elevate your wedding aesthetic and add a touch of luxury and exclusivity to any wedding reception. Take a look at this rehearsal dinner. They really enhance the overall design. From abstract prints to geometric shapes, custom linens offer a range of designs that can add a touch of edgy sophistication to any room and is such a fun way to elevate your tablescape. Moreover, these small touches can make a big difference in elevating the overall aesthetic of your wedding. Companies like BBJ La Tavola have soooo many options and do not disappoint!

Clear your getting ready space

Growing up with three sisters was naturally like getting ready in a sorority house everyday of my life. And that space was, well, not clean. On your wedding day, have a separate space for the getting ready photos. And make sure the area is clear of clutter and well lit.

Hire a full service planner

Laura McCasland from McArthur Weddings & Events told me the other day that hiring an event planner for the day of is event management. If you’re looking to have a wedding that has a “wow” factor, I recommend hiring your wedding planner first, as they will be the one’s you work with to co-create a tailored and cohesive design.

Pay Attention to the Details

Finally, and maybe most important, attention to detail is crucial when it comes to elevating your wedding day aesthetic. From the floral arrangements to the table settings, ensure that everything is cohesive and well thought out. Even the smallest details, such as the font on your wedding invitations or the placement of the silverware on the tables, can make a big difference in the overall aesthetic of your wedding.

Elevating your wedding day aesthetic is all about creating a cohesive look that reflects your personality and style. By focusing on the color scheme, incorporating unique textures and fabrics, paying attention to lighting, personalizing your décor, and paying attention to the details, you can create a beautiful and memorable wedding day that you and your guests will never forget.
